Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA)

A tissue sample is the best way to assess the body’s overall mineral balance. Blood is typically not a good indicator as the body will seek to keep blood mineral levels within a tight range in order to prevent death and it will often do this at the expense of other tissues like bones, muscles and organs. It would be quite painful to retrieve a muscle tissue sample for testing, so fortunately hair is a painless, easy way to get a snap shot of the body’s mineral patterns over the past few months of a person’s life.

HTMA gives absolute mineral values but it also gives important ratios of minerals to each other. This gives insight into the body’s overall stress level, thyroid function, adrenal function, blood sugar balance, hormonal balance and protein digestion. It will also show the presence of toxic metals. Not only do physical conditions correlate with mineral patterns, but emotional issues do as well. Correcting mineral imbalances will result in a strong immune system and a calm and happy demeanor. Balancing minerals is one of the best things you can do for your long-term health.
